With influenza and other respiratory viruses expected to ramp up this winter, Windsor Regional Hospital and Erie Shores HealthCare are reintroducing modified masking protocols in their facilities.
As of Monday, a mandatory masking policy will be in place for staff — and recommended for visitors — who will be within two metres of a patient at both hospitals.
Additional personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gowns and eye protection, may be required for patients when a unit is experiencing an outbreak.
Signage will be posted to outline the PPE requirements.
Masks won’t be required in non-clinical settings, public spaces, cafeterias and elevators. However, masking will be recommended for those in waiting lounges in areas such as dialysis, the emergency department and the cancer cent
