BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Expect some messy conditions tonight as snow will continue to fall across the north; those towards the south will change from snow to a wintry mix and eventually all rain.

The center of the low remains across parts of New York and will be passing to our north overnight. Warm air is already getting wrapped up into this system changing the snow over to rain. Keep in mind, cold air is more dense and heavier than warm air, making it harder to clear out at the surface. This is why we will see a period of freezing rain as that transition from rain to snow occurs. The good news is, most locations will have picked up snow first which should help with icing potential.
