MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A Memphis man is accused of causing a crash last year that killed his passenger, who died after she was unable to be pulled from the burning vehicle that wrecked.

Laterrius Morris, 39, is charged with criminally negligent homicide, reckless driving, striking a fixed object, having no driver’s license, failure to prove financial responsibility, and driving with a revoked license.

Authorities allege that Morris’ reckless driving on Nov. 6, 2024, led to the death of his passenger, Cierra Joiner.

According to the affidavit, Morris was driving a 2004 Infinity I35 with Joiner in the passenger seat when he lost control and collided with a utility pole on Jackson Avenue near University Street at 8:08 p.m. that night.
