While still several years away, a new lithium-ion battery storage site could be coming to Stratford after an endorsement by city council.
At Monday’s council meeting, planning services director Adam Betteridge presented a proposal to build the facility on land adjacent to property currently owned by Festival Hydro, the city-owned electricity distributor, at 65 Wright Blvd.

Betteridge’s report outlined this unsolicited proposal from Cordelia BESS Inc., which stems from the Independent Electricity System Operator’s long-term procurement effort – dubbed Long-Term 2 – to increase electricity energy storage capacity in Ontario to keep pace with increasing energy demands.
