ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WILX) - University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore has been fired for cause.

The university said in a statement:

“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately. Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”

Moore has been on Michigan’s coaching staff since 2018, serving as the Wolverines’ tight ends coach from 2018 to 2020, co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach from 2021 to 2022, and offensive coordinator and offensive line in 2023.

Moore succeeded former head coach Jim Harbaugh beginning last season, and just finished his second year as Michigan’s head coach.
