City of Chattanooga data shows drivers are far more likely to drive on the wrong side of the road than to travel the wrong way on a one-way roadway, according to new figures released by the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD).
Between January 1 and December 10, 2025, officers recorded 94 incidents of “Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road,” compared to 16 incidents of “Driving the Wrong Way on a One-Way Roadway.”
Police note that the higher number of centerline-crossing cases reflects a broad range of situations. “Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road” includes medical emergencies, DUI, speeding, and other events where a driver loses control and crosses into oncoming lanes.
