Three dogs have been taken into custody by Lucas County Canine Care & Control after the U-Haul they were in stopped a few feet short of a West Toledo apartment building.

A roughly hourlong police chase ended Wednesday evening at the Larchmont Estates, where a U-Haul was being towed later in the evening.

Officials with the Toledo Police Department were unable to be reached Wednesday evening with the nature of the pursuit or the driver of the vehicle.

The dogs were reportedly in the back of the truck, along with a dog cage, storage bin, and a piece of wood furniture.

“Our LC4 Canine Control Officer responded to the scene with TPD and took three dogs into our custody, back to the shelter,” said Sarah Elms, Lucas County communications director.
