After months of negotiating and meeting, the city of Toledo is moving forward with its plans at the Bay View Water Reclamation Plant and has terminated the lease for the Bayview Retirees Golf Course.

In September, the city detailed plans to permanently close the golf course, which is located next to the water plant. The city needs the land to make plant improvements. The retirees lease the land from the city, but volunteers maintain the course. In an effort to meet in the middle, both groups committed to ongoing conversations.

The golfers proposed 17 acres of land that the city could utilize while the plant undergoes improvements. The golfers feel the acreage adequately fulfills the amount needed and would still leave a viable golf course, but the city says the proposal is not feasible.
