Libbey Glass workers on strike got a boost of support Friday when Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dr. Amy Acton stopped by the picket line and offered her support.
The gesture and the accompanying doughnuts were received with appreciation by members of the four unions who have come together to engage in a strike that is stretching into its fourth month — the longest ever at Libbey Glass.
The Libbey factory has been located in the North Toledo neighborhood for more than 135 years and has seen generations of families work there.
On Friday, workers gathered around barrels of burning wood for warmth as others marched with signs back and forth across a drive leading into the factory entrance.
