PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Riverside Local Schools Board of Education publicly laid Wednesday evening out why it is moving forward with pre-termination proceedings against Superintendent Christopher J. Rateno , citing board-issued evaluation scores and a pre-disciplinary report read during a packed special meeting.

Board President Scott Fishel said the board's evaluations produced an average score of 61% for the 2023–24 school year and 60% for 2024–25 — results the board claims highlight ongoing communication deficiencies and other performance concerns.

Fishel also read aloud a pre-termination report — which was compiled for an executive session on Dec. 4 — that lists a series of allegations against Rateno.
