BROCKTON, Mass. —

A driver was airlifted to a Boston hospital with life-threatening injuries after they were involved in a high-speed crash in Brockton, police said.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the area of North Cary and Provost streets.

According to Brockton police, an officer in the area saw the car traveling at an "extremely high rate of speed" before the driver crashed and was ejected from the car.

He was found in a wooded area and was taken via medical helicopter to the hospital.

The crash impact caused damage to at least three utility poles, police said.

Video from the scene showed the damaged poles along with a large amount of debris in the roadway.
