AKRON, Ohio - A section of Akron’s interstate highway system will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Friday, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced.
The closing involves what is called the Kenmore Leg, the portion of I-76 that runs between I-77 and I-277 west of downtown Akron.
At the I-76 east/I-77 south intersection, drivers will be detoured to use I-76 south to I-277 east to I-77 north.
Also planned for closing is the ramp from the the Kenmore Leg north to I-76 east and I-77 south. The detour will be I-77 north to Ohio Route 162 to I-77 south.
This is part of ongoing work to reconstruct the Akron beltway.
