Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor exploited a generous rent arrangement on a flat inhabited by his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, reportedly costing the royal coffers millions of pounds in lost income.
The disgraced royal is said to have taken advantage of the rental agreement on several properties , including his 20-year home of the Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate, with his arrangement on the property seeing Andrew pay a 'peppercorn rent'. This is a legal term for a symbolic 'payment' of a 'peppercorn', ie something of low value, to establish that someone is effectively getting something for free, or very little.
