AUSTIN, Texas — A semitruck crash is prompting lane closures early Thursday morning in South Austin.

All southbound lanes of Interstate 35 at Slaughter Lane shut down to traffic at about 4:45 a.m. As of 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Austin police said all but one lane remain closed.

Austin police say the semitruck jackknifed -meaning it folded to some capacity- and spilled oil on the roadway between West William Cannon Drive and West Slaughter Lane.

No injuries have been reported, but cleanup is underway. Austin police said the road is expected to be closed for several hours.

TxDOT says drivers are being rerouted to the frontage road leading to Exit 227 at Slaughter Lane.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
