STAR, Idaho — Drivers be aware: delays can be expected at the State Highway 16 and State Highway 44.

According to an Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) spokesperson, Jill Youmans, the delays are caused by crews working longer than expected.

While a new traffic pattern was put into place on Thursday, the delays are temporary.

For Friday commuters, Youmans recommends finding alternate routes, and avoiding this intersection. Crews will be working overnight again, and delays may be present on Friday.

"The traffic shift will allow for two thru lanes on State Highway 44 through the next phase on construction, which is expected to help congestion going forward," adds Youmans.
