NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Update: The Tennessee Department of Corrections reports that death row inmate Harold Wayne Nichols has been executed.
Nichols was pronounced dead at 10:39 a.m.
“To the people I’ve harmed, I’m sorry. To my family, know that I love you. I know where I’m going to. I’m ready to go home,” were Nichols’ last words.

Gov. Bill Lee will not be intervening in the execution of Tennessee death row inmate Harold Wayne Nichols , he said Tuesday.
Nichols, convicted of the 1988 rape and murder of a Chattanooga State University student, Karen Pulley, was sentenced to death in 1990.
