A Midland sex beast has been jailed for 26 years after he raped a child.

Police said Anthony Restall 'finally had to face the consequences of his abhorrent crimes', as they praised the 'bravery and resilience' of his victim.

The 59-year-old, of Manhattan Way, Coventry, was found guilty of six offences following a trial at Leeds Crown Court in August.

Restall was convicted of four counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14 , one rape of a female under 16, and a further rape but on multiple occasions.

The offending took place in Batley, Yorkshire between 1998 and 2003.
