We’re used to Mother Nature throwing a bucket of snow, but not necessarily this much before winter officially arrives on Dec. 21.

To top it off, New Hampshire's ski resorts have been blessed with frigid day and nighttime temperatures that are ideal for making snow. Snow guns have been fired up for two weeks to a month, wherever and whenever possible, which has been most of the time.

That means snow season, with its strategic mix of real and manmade, is officially out of the gate.

It might be a record: As of Dec. 8, 23 ski resorts had opened in New Hampshire, according to Ski NH, the association of New Hampshire ski resorts.
