An 'extremely frail' woman who 'disappeared' off the radar of social services died following a 'sustained absence of the most basic care', a coroner has said. Lillian Walsh, from Ramsbottom , died aged 94 after arriving at hospital with 'heavily soiled dressings' and bruises. She weighed just 36.8kg.
A coroner has now concluded Mrs Walsh's death - on March 17, 2019 - was due to 'natural causes to which neglect contributed'. Failures by Bury council, which left her without the agreed care package and with no professional contact for 14 months, amounted to neglect, coroner Lisa Judge said.
