WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The I-94 east-west freeway project is underway, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) announced additional closures are scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. These upcoming west leg closures are to facilitate reconstruction of the Hawley Road interchange as well as preparation of the I-94 westbound roadway for bi-directional traffic in 2026.

Here's a look at the closures:

Overnight Monday, Dec. 15:

Long-term closure of the General Mitchell Boulevard entrance ramp to I-94 westbound through March of 2026

DETOUR: Bluemound Road to 84th Street

Long-term closure of the I-94 eastbound exit ramp to General Mithcell Boulevard through March of 2026

Late December/early January:

Full closure of Hawley Road at I-94 through late 2028
