MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis police have recovered more than $10,000 in stolen materials and secured nine arrests as part of a two-week-long operation targeting metal thieves.

The Memphis Police Department’s Pawn, Scrap and Seizure Unit conducted “Operation Junkyard Dog” back in November. The initiative was aimed at disrupting the flow of stolen copper and other metals being sold to scrap yards and recyclers.

MPD says these thefts often target critical infrastructure, causing costly damage and dangerous service interruptions for the community.

Those arrested during “Operation Junkyard Dog” include:

Kaila Prince (25) : Felony drug warrant

Larry Malone (49) : Misdemeanor drug warrant

Rashad Glover (44) : Warrant for burglary + charged with additional burglary
