NORWICH, Conn. (WFSB) - Volunteers braved cold, windy conditions Thursday morning to unload pallets of donated food at Easterseals Veterans Rally Point, the result of a two-week community collection drive to help veterans and their families during the holiday season.
A semi truck from Premium Utility Contractors delivered boxes of food collected from eight different drop-off sites across the region. The donations will create approximately 200 food kits for distribution.
Navy veteran Rene Gentes was among the volunteers helping unload the truck.
“Now it’s time to give back a little bit,” Gentes said as he carried boxes into the facility.
Associate Director Ryan Landry helped coordinate the collection effort, which brought together donations from multiple locations over the past two week
