On Thursday at 5 p.m. a winter storm watch was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Saturday 1 p.m. until Sunday 1 p.m. for Westmoreland Ridges and Fayette Ridges.
The weather service comments, "Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches with locally higher amounts possible."
"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes," explains the weather service. "Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation. Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. Please report snow or ice accumulations by calling 412-262-1988, posting to the NWS Pittsburgh Facebook page, or using X @NWSPittsburgh."
