ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — College Park’s police chief has stepped down from her position, the city confirmed on Thursday.

Connie Rogers submitted her letter of resignation on Tuesday afternoon. Deputy Chief Sharis McCrary now leads the police department.

“We thank Chief Rogers for her years of service to our community and her dedication to public safety during her tenure,” the city’s director of communications, Gerald H. Walker, said in a statement.

The city did not say why she resigned, but added: “Personnel matters are confidential; therefore the City will respect the privacy of those involved and will not be offering additional details regarding the resignation.”
