MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new chapter for a handful of Milwaukee students that are working towards a brighter future.

Around 340 students at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) crossed the stage to get their high school diplomas.

It's all part of MATC's Emerging Scholars program.

Now that they've got the tools to succeed and, despite whatever stopped them from getting a diploma before, these students can now move on to whatever career path they choose.

"The significance of this night is for families ages 18 through 70 to finally reach the milestone that they've been looking forward to pretty much for all of their lives," said Josephine Gomez, dean of community education and strategic engagement.
