LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - An investigation is underway after a bronze bust from the gravesite of former Nebraska Gov. Albinus Nance and three plaques were stolen, amounting to $90,000.

The plaques included an Abraham Lincoln plaque, a Pledge of Allegiance plaque and one with a script written on it.

The Wyuka Cemetery President Joshua Vossler filed a report for the stolen items with Lincoln Police on Thursday at 11 a.m.

“I felt real sad,” Vossler said. “I grew up here and this place is very important to the people that work here and visit.”

Nance served as Governor of Nebraska from Jan. 9, 1879-Jan. 4, 1883.

Officers are also investigating reported vandalism at the cemetery the day before.
