EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The East Lansing City Council unanimously approved six recommendations from Police Chief Jen Brown on Tuesday to address downtown safety and other issues.
The council passed the measures with a 4-0 vote after Brown presented 13 total recommendations to improve the downtown area.
The approved recommendations include adding two police officers dedicated to traffic enforcement. The city manager will also review the placement of lighting and cameras downtown.
Maya Weisberger and Erin Swartz, both seniors at Michigan State University, say the city needs a safer downtown.
