GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - On Thursday, the Historical Society of Gulfport unveiled a concept for what an updated Gulfport History Museum may look like.
“With our 125th anniversary just a few years ago, I think it’s a perfect time to be looking back over Gulfport’s history,” said Margaret Murdock, vice president of the Historical Society of Gulfport.
Earlier this year, the group reached out to Healy-Kohler Design Firm to help design a concept plan for the museum. At its December meeting, the historical society showed off the firm’s results. The plan is just a concept as of now, with a price tag of around $1.7 million.
Betty Shaw, the museum’s director and founder of the Gulfport Historical Society, isn’t deterred by that number. She’s ready to make good on a promise she made 20 years ago.
