Christmas was always Mom’s favorite holiday in the Richards household. Among the many traditions she cherished every year were singing songs together, putting up decorations, and of course, working her magic in the kitchen to prepare a variety of delicious treats.
Mom especially liked baking desserts she could make in large batches so she could prepare plates of goodies to give to families around the neighborhood. Thankfully, there was always just enough left over for us kids to enjoy.
Some of Mom’s yummy favorites included toffee, divinity, fudge, brownies and sugar cookies with red and green frosting.
From time to time over the years since Mom’s death in 2012, my siblings and I have enjoyed honoring her memory by making one of her favorite recipes.
