EL CENTRO — The Imperial County Fire Department has been selected as one of the latest recipients of a T-Mobile Hometown Grant, securing $50,000 to significantly upgrade its emergency communications technology.

T-Mobile announced Thursday that the Imperial County Fire Department was among 25 organizations nationwide to receive the funding this quarter. The grant, which the department applied for to benefit the community of Heber, will be used to enhance the communications technology at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

These upgrades are designed to boost operational readiness and improve community engagement for emergency services across Imperial County. The local project was selected from over 900 applications submitted during this round.
