BRAWLEY — The Brawley Police Department announced it will conduct a sobriety and driving under the influence (DUI) checkpoint starting on Friday, December 12th, from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Saturday at an undisclosed location.

According to a press release issued Wednesday, DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related collisions. The primary purpose of these checkpoints is to promote public safety by deterring and removing impaired drivers from the road.

Chief Jimmy Duran stressed the seriousness of the initiative. “Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” said Chief Duran. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve public safety.”
