Sun Metro has been awarded a $1.96 million Federal Transit Administration Low or No Emissions grant to replace its aging transit supervisor vehicles with 14 compressed natural gas vans. The funding supports the city of El Paso’s effort to modernize its fleet and reduce emissions, marking the latest in a series of federal awards; since 2022, Sun Metro has secured more than $41 million through the program. The new vans will support daily operations, including dispatch assistance, mechanical response and passenger transport.
