Sadiq Khan has issued a major update over plans to pedestrianise Oxford Street. Transport for London has launched a second public consultation on plans to pedestrianise the central section of the street, between Selfridges and Ikea.

Residents have warned the proposals will “create chaos, not a world-class boulevard”, and be “catastrophic for the surrounding neighbourhoods”.

A total of 15 bus routes currently use Oxford Street, including 10 that run along the section that will be pedestrianised, namely between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street.
