A County Durham man has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving after a suspected stolen car crashed into stationary traffic after a police chase in Darlington.

A white Kia Sportage, reported stolen from a property in the town, was spotted by officers near Morton Park at about 12.45pm on Tuesday (December 9).

The driver failed to stop, police said, and headed off at speed towards McMullen Road, where it crashed into two stationary cars before coming to rest on Tornado Way.

Carl Hollywood, 36, of Albert Street, Chilton, also pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance. He was remanded on conditional bail.
