A pair of fraudsters were sentenced thanks to officers from the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU), working together with Cleveland Police and the Metropolitan Police. Two men have been handed prison sentences for their efforts to steal money from elderly victims.
In June, NEROCU officers identified a Courier Fraud crime series in the North East . Courier fraud occurs when a criminal contacts the victim and convinces them to hand over money or their debit or credit card for a legitimate reason to someone who will pick it up.
