Gov. Tim Walz announced on Friday the creation of a new fraud prevention program and the appointment of an anti-fraud czar to oversee it.

The governor says that Tim O'Malley, the Interim Chief Judge of the Minnesota Court of Administrative Hearings and a former Minnesota BCA superintendent and FBI agent, will serve as Minnesota's Director of Program Integrity.

He will work alongside Twin Cities-based forensic accounting firm WayPoint to "implement a statewide fraud prevention program."

It's the latest step taken by the governor as pressure grows on his administration following a series of fraud schemes targeting public programs in recent years.
