JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man has become $600,000 richer after winning $1 million from a scratch-off lottery ticket purchased at a grocery store on Jacksonville's Southside last month, the Florida Lottery announced Friday.
Billy Pitman, 61, won $1 million from the lottery's "$25,000,000 GOLD RUSH MULTIPLIER" scratch-off game, the Florida Lottery said in a press release. He chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $638,100 after claiming the winning ticket at the lottery's headquarters in Tallahassee on Nov. 17, the lottery said.
According to the release, Pitman bought his ticket at the Winn-Dixie located at 11380 Beach Blvd.
The Florida Lottery said the scratch-off game Pitman played won offers two top prizes of $25 million and 60 prizes of $1 million.
