A Welsh community officially has a bank again for the first time in more than two years. Ystradgynlais has been left without permanent banking facilities since its last bank, Lloyds, announced it was closing its branch there in 2023.

Attempts were made to force Lloyds to keep the branch open, but after public meetings in the town those attempts hopes proved unsuccessful. A temporary banking hub had opened in May this year and now, in December 2025, a permanent banking hub has officially opened in the town.
