GREAT BEND, Kan. (KWCH) - A Russell man is facing multiple charges after a high-speed chase through Great Bend ended with his car crashing into a building.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Thursday at 10:30 p.m., a deputy attempted to stop a driver in the 1500 block of Morphy after seeing the car speeding and running stop signs.
When the deputy activated their emergency equipment, the car turned off its headlights and tried to flee. Near the intersection of 28th and Hubbard, a deputy sheriff tried to stop the vehicle by legal intervention. The car spun out, regained control, and continued trying to escape.
Deputies made at least two more attempts to stop the car, which was reaching speeds of over 70 miles per hour and blacked out. The car never left Great Bend. Deputie
