ALEXANDRIA — Family and friends were to gather in North Glengarry starting Friday to mourn and celebrate the life of a community hero.
Claude Sauvé died peacefully on Nov. 23, at the Cornwall Community Hospital.
Sauvé is remembered as a proud advocate for people living with intellectual disabilities, and someone with a large personality who always put community first. According to friends who knew him and worked alongside him, his passing is a loss for people with disabilities across Ontario.
“He liked to help people, especially people with disabilities. He wanted to make it better,” said Lynn Bedard, a friend who volunteered alongside Sauvé. “He was fighting for rights.”
