ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Temperatures are expected to fall into the mid-20s Sunday night into Monday morning, and wind gusts will make it feel even colder. The Salvation Army is getting ready to open its doors early and remain open to anyone who needs warmth and shelter.

KALB Meteorologist Ian Beck said this will be some of the coldest air the area has felt so far this season. Wind speeds between 15 and 20 miles per hour will make conditions even more dangerous.

The Salvation Army will provide a warm place to stay, hot meals and basic necessities throughout Sunday and Monday.

Sgt. Tammy Camarillo said they are preparing by setting up cots the night before the cold weather hits. They will have plenty of blankets, hot chocolate, meals and snacks available for anyone seeking help.
