WASHINGTON D.C. — President Donald Trump has signed a $12 billion federal aid package aimed at providing financial relief to American farmers as they contend with rising production costs and volatile markets.

“This relief will provide much-needed certainty to farmers as they get this year’s harvest to market,” said the President.

According to the administration, the aid package is fully funded through tariff revenue collected by the federal government this year.

Under the plan, $11 billion will be distributed amongst farm owners through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The remaining $1 billion will support farmers who grow specialty crops. Payments are expected to begin rolling out in February, pending final implementation.
