FREEPORT (WREX) — Luke Norman has returned to the Highland Community College gym, a place deeply connected to his personal and professional history . Norman, whose father Pete Norman established the program as a national power, took over as head coach in 2020. However, he was dismissed by the school's administration this past summer following a lengthy and contentious board meeting .
Now, Norman has found a new opportunity as an assistant coach for Moberly Area Community College. The Moberly Greyhounds are known for their strong presence at the national level in junior college basketball.
Norman expressed mixed feelings about being back in the gym he knows so well, especially wearing the red of Moberly instead of Highland's orange and blue.
Despite the change, Norman is optimistic.
