I’m a (relatively!) new mom. This will be my son’s second Christmas, but the first where he’ll be old enough to really engage with the holiday. And since he has an early-ish January birthday, our house is about to see a significant influx of new toys . Which means it’s time to clear out some of the more gently used items he has aged out of, or never really loved in the first place.

This got me thinking about donations during the holiday season, particularly when it comes to children’s goods. At first, I planned to let the proverbial holiday dust settle and bring everything to my local Goodwill drop-off center in early January. I imagine this is a fairly common sentiment
