MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - On this day December 13, 1925, legendary actor Dick Van Dyke was born, making 2025 his 100th birthday!

Van Dyke was born in West Plains Missouri, and grew up in Illinois.

After being introduced to theater in high school, Van Dyke didn’t get into show business until after an advertising agency he opened failed.

He went on to have a monster career in Hollywood and Broadway, starring in hits like “Bye Bye Birdie,” “The Dick Van Dyke show,” and “Mary Poppins.”

He continued to appear in movies through the 2010s

Dick Van Dyke was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1995, and he also received a Kennedy Award in 2021.
