GRAND FORKS — UND had a chance to secure its first home win over a Division I opponent this season on Saturday afternoon.

But victory slipped away from the Fighting Hawks' grasp at the very end, just as it had against Montana, Cal State Northridge and UC Riverside.

Western Illinois weathered a run from the Hawks at the end of regulation and hung on for a 69-66 win in overtime.

"Just really disappointing," head coach Paul Sather said. "Defensively, I thought there were actually some really good things. Our activity points are pretty good. You make plenty of mistakes, but had a lot of opportunities for stops, and it boils down to (Karyiek Dixon) getting 11 offensive rebounds and them getting 25 offensive rebounds throughout the game. I mean, that’s the game."
