MESA, Ariz. ( KPHO /Gray News) — Two people were killed and eight others, including three police officers, were injured in a fiery crash early Saturday in Arizona.

Authorities said the collision took place near the intersection of Southern Avenue and Dobson Road in Mesa just before 12:30 a.m.

Investigators said a westbound vehicle was speeding when it rear-ended a second vehicle that was coming out of a private drive. The rear-end impact caused the second vehicle to go up in flames.

Officials said the driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead. A 17-year-old who was a passenger in the second vehicle also died. Five passengers were hospitalized with minor injuries before later being released.
