Ten people were killed and around a dozen wounded after two gunmen opened fire during a Jewish holiday event at Sydney's Bondi Beach on Sunday, Australian officials said.
One suspected gunman was dead and another in critical condition, authorities said.
A massive emergency response was underway, with 11 injured people loaded into ambulances and taken to local hospitals, police in New South Wales state said. Two police officers were also among the injured.
Hundreds had gathered for an event at Bondi Beach called Chanukah by the Sea, which was celebrating the start of the Hanukkah Jewish festival.
Police said their operation was “ongoing” and that a “number of suspicious items located in the vicinity” were being examined by specialist officers.
