Anthony Gordon has put his hands up and apologised for Newcastle United's loss to Sunderland .
The winger, who came off after a poor game just days after lighting up the Champions League in Leverkusen, addressed criticism surrounding the display via his Instagram account.
Gordon said after the Premier League loss on Wearside: "Totally underperformed today in a game that would have meant so much to everyone.
"We can only apologise, reset and try to make it right on Wednesday."
Meanwhile, Jacob Murphy also weighed in at full-time with his viewpoint on the game and said: “This is low. First derby I’ve played in so to not be on the winning side is sickening.
