A man has been assaulted along a busy Cambridge road. Cambridgeshire Police were called to Newmarket Road at around 3.40pm yesterday (Monday, July 14).

The victim was taken to hospital for further treatment. He had been left with cuts on his head.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.40pm to the war memorial on Newmarket Road, Cambridge yesterday with reports a man had been assaulted. The victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with cuts to his head.”
